Less than 24 hours after Rhode Island Gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio told President Obama to “take his endorsement and shove it” the Chafee campaign was up on every major broadcast network with “Stand Up” a spot that features then Presidential candidate Barack Obama praising Linc Chafee as an honest leader who is not afraid to “stand up” for the good of the people. This ad effectively kept voter attention on Caprio’s damaging gaffe earning write-ups in CNN’s political ticker and the New York Times Caucus Blog. This spot helped Independent candidate Linc Chafee win the election and become the only Independent Governor in the nation.
