Charlie Dooley Elected St. Louis County Executive
Historic Victory Follows Successful Media Campaign

November 3rd, 2004 - In a history making victory, Charlie Dooley has been elected St. Louis County Executive, defeating former County Executive Gene McNary. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch called Dooley’s election a “historic victory.” Dooley is the first African-American ever to be elected to a countywide office in St. Louis County.
Julian Mulvey served as Charlie Dooley’s media consultant and directed his commercials [see them here].
Dooley was originally appointed to serve as St. Louis County Executive following the death of George “Buzz” Westfall last November. Dooley now goes on to complete the remaining two years of Buzz Westfall’s term.
Before being selected County Executive, Dooley served as Mayor of Northwoods, as Alderman for the 1st District, and as a member of the County Council. After entering the race for County Executive, Dooley won the six-way Democratic primary with 65 percent of the vote.
